Work in progress show
How I decided to exhibit my progress so far in the WIP show
reflections and collection
This section is to reflect on my process so far, and to show how I attempted to resolve my .
Thinking about where I am at and what I could exhibit:
The aim of this exhibition is to start resolving the things we have been exploring and to exhibit our tests while trying to resolve them.
So, for this exhibition I had to think about how to resolve my Midjourney pictures. The process is explained here in this page!
So I had the negatives, and I thought about exhibiting my pictures also as 6x4 glossy photographic paper prints. I thought about the format of things a lot when resolving this pieces, and how certain formats are accompanied by concrete meanings: the ones attached to our memories, and the ones from the social imaginary. I thought on how to exhibit a few of my 6x4 pictures, and the idea that came to mind was to recreate where we tend to find them in our private and comfortable settings (our own homes). For me, is the fridge in my kitchen.
I thought about recreating that into a wall and create an atmosphere that would resemble a bedroom. For that I started thinking about using a paint that would have “bedroom vibes”. The walls in my bedroom are painted cream, so thought about some sort of pastel colour.
I decided to implement a shelf for a plant that would cover a bit of the pictures, I thought that would make the viewer connect more with this idea of home, but also to have to move around in order to connect with all the visual information on the pictures (this idea was brought from one of the thought processes I went through in my 3rd walk, which I explain in this page here!
I was given the opportunity to use 2 different walls on the exhibition space and decided it was a good idea to explore this. I decided to use one of the walls solely by pictures, and the other to show some 6x4 pictures, the negatives, apply the plant and - since I had an extra space now - I decided to use a mirror to connect visually both spaces.
I then thought about how to exhibit the negatives, which I explained in this other page!
After deciding on the lightbox to exhibit the negatives, I decided to place that onto a shelf. Some negatives on the wall for people to swap them around and interact with them to feel closer to them and to create more intimacy between them and my “memories”.
This is how everything looked in the end!
